Illinois has 5 companies offering health insurance for the 2020-21 plan year: Ambetter, BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois, Bright Health, Cigna, and Health Alliance, though not every carrier is available in every county.

Ambetter

Ambetter continues to offer competitive pricing and plans for 2021. No major changes to their network or plans.

BCBSIL

Blue Cross of Illinois announced that Northwestern Hospital will now be in network for all Preferred Choice PPO plans, so members will no longer need a referral to access NW Memorial. Northwestern patients with the Blue Precision HMO will need to switch to the PPO in order for their care to remain covered.

Cigna

Cigna continues to cover Chicago, and introduced their second network option, Cigna Plus, which includes Northwestern Medicine and is available in Cook, Kane, DuPage, Lake and McHenry counties. 

Health Alliance

HA continues to serve downstate Illinois and offers great coverage for a great price.
